Boulders In Nets Center for Maine Contemporary Art Biennial in Rockland, Maine sisal thread, upholstery thread, unfired paper clay adobe, rope, handmade and upcycled book pages, wooden block and tackle 10′ x 5′ x 12′ Boulders In Nets is an installation displaying large woven basket-like forms built to carry large handmade paper boulders. The boulder form, which generally seems to be heavy and weighty, is effortlessly carried within the hand woven nets. Tension is provided by a pulley system connected to the ceiling securing and pulling the weft strings in the weaving.
